He was having a headache

My brother had a headache earlier today, during our bus trip from their place to Copenhagen. Maybe it's because we slept late lastnight and we only ate bread for breakfast. The weather was also very cold and he was complaining about it. I just hope that he'll get used to the weather and the lifestyle here very soon. Adjustment period is really very difficult. The headache thing progresses to a migraine discussion and we talked about our friends who have been suffering migraine for years. It's really a burden since it's affecting their jobs. So, we really have to take care of our bodies to avoid getting sick. It's not good to get sick especially if you are away from your family. There's no one to comfort you and to take care of you. So, we really have to be extra careful with our health. Health is wealth after all.

I'm here in Denmark now

Hi everyone, I hope that you are all fine here! I'm already in Denmark now and I'm very happy coz I'm seeing my brother atlast, for almost 1 year of being away. Hurrah!! And we will be celebrating New Year together with all my cousins here in Denmark, it will be some sort of reunion and I'm really looking forward about it coz I know that it will be fun.

On the other hand, I'm so disappointed with my dieting because I'm gaining weight once again, huhuhu. So sad,:) There's a lot of food all over and I wasn't able to make my daily exercise. I have to double time after the new year to shed off the gained pounds. Advance happy New Year to all!

The plan of getting a pedometer next year

A while ago, I was surfing for health stuffs as always. And I stumble into a pedometer site. Hmmm, the term sound familiar, but I'm not really sure what it is. So I googled it and completely understood what it is. According to my research, pedometer is a device, usually portable and electronic, which counts each step a person makes. It was used originally by sports and physical fitness enthusiasts, but it's already becoming popular as an everyday exercise measurer and motivator. Ohhh my, it's really a device perfect for my goal of shedding off some pounds. I'm sure it will help me a lot in motivating me to continue moving and exercising. I found cheap pedometers at tvproducts4less.com and the cheapest is at $12.95. i just hope that they'll accept paypal payment and I will really order one if they will. I'll fix all these after my trip to Denmark. I'll be leaving on the 26th to visit my brother and my cousins and be back of the 2nd of January.

Merry Christmas

Happy holidays one and all!! May the spirit of Christmas be with you all, not only today, but always. I hope that you have a nice celebration with your family and friends. It's still December 24 here and I'll be celebrating Christmas with 2 of my friends. So, it will be a bit lonely Christmas. But tomorrow, we'll have a party with all my "berks" at Ate Bren's place. And we're all excited for tomorrow as well.

Though I'm far from my family, but I'm soo happy for all the blessings that God has given me and for having a wonderful family and friends around me. Thanks GOD.

And my dieting is suffering right now coz foods are everywhere. But I'm really trying my best to control my appetite. And I'm not doing my regular exercise too coz it's not really that approriate if I'll keep on exercising while my friends are busy talking. But I promise to double time after the holidays.

Merry Christmas once again!

Vacation discussion

Most of my friends are here in Ate Brend's place and I'm so happy meeting them. It's nice to have them around during weekends. We're going to have a small gathering on the 25th and we are going to have an "exchange gift" to bring the tradiotion of Pinas here so we can feel the spirit of Christmas though we are far from our beloved family.

And we had a lot of topics :guys, future, plans, vacation and more. And it's really fun talking with them because we dream big together. And one of our big dream is to have one of the luxurious caribbean cruises together. Woww, I really hope that we can make it come true in the near future and I know that it will surely be a memorable and fun experience.

Healthy companions

I'm soo happy right now coz we have a serious talk with my friends and so happy because my best and my other friend are also willing and determined to lose weight.Hurrah,so it means that I'll be more motivated to attain my goal because I have some friends who are also having the same goal. So we're gonna help one another to attain our goal, to be more healthy and curvy,:)

Good luck to us! The scale is still at 53 kg.:)

General cleaning is over

Hurrah!!I'm done with my general cleaning in my employer's place and cheers to that!:) It means that I can already breath from my hectic schedule. Thanks high heavens. My female employer was home with the eldest daughter coz the child is sick. She planned to go shopping for a while, but her car didn't start, so she just stayed home and put up the Christmas decorations with the kid.

My employers have 2 bar stools in the kitchen and I polished them once again coz I saw some stains. I was done cleaning at around 2 pm and my didn't prepare dinner for the family coz they went out to watch a movie. And good news, the weight is still 53 kg. :)

More dieting tips from coolnurse.com

Here are more dieting tips from coolnurse.com and this tips all the tips are discussed in details:

Be aware of what you drink!
It's amazing how many extra calories are in the sodas, juices, and other drinks. Cutting out soda completely can save you 360 calories or more each day. AVOID diet soda too, the artificial sweeteners are probably not good very good for you & they tend to make some people hungry. Drink a lot of water. Switching from whole to nonfat or low fat milk is also a good idea, or switching to soy milk is even a better idea.

Move your body!
You may find that you don't need to give up calories as much as you need to get off your behind. And don't get stuck in the rut of thinking you have to play a team sport or take an aerobics class - try a variety of activities from hiking to cycling to rowing until you find ones you like. Not a jock, you say? Find other ways to fit activity into your day: walk to school, jog up and down the stairs a couple of times before your morning shower or take a stroll past your crush's house - anything that gets you moving. Your goal should be to work up to 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at least 3 to 5 times a week - but it's fine to start out by simply taking a few turns around the block before bed. This may also help you to avoid becoming a TV, video game, or Internet junkie!

Start small!
Drastic changes are much harder to stick with than small changes. Try reducing the size of the portions you eat and giving up regular soda for a week. Once you have that down, start gradually introducing healthier foods and exercise into your life.

Stop eating when you're full!
Lots of teens (and adults) eat when they're bored, lonely, or stressed or keep eating long after they're full out of habit. Slowing down can help because it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to recognize how much is in your stomach. Sometimes taking a break before going for seconds can keep you from eating them. Avoid eating when you feel upset or bored - try to find something else to do instead (a walk around the block or a trip to the gym are good alternatives). Many teens find it's helpful to keep a diary of what they eat and when. Reviewing their diary later can help them identify the emotions they have when they overeat or whether they have unhealthy habits. A registered dietitian can give you pointers on how to do this.

Eat less more often!
Many people find that eating a couple of small snacks throughout the day helps them to make healthy choices at meals. Stick a couple of healthy snacks (carrot sticks, a low fat granola bar, pretzels, or a piece of fruit) in your backpack so that you can have one or two snacks during the day. Adding healthy snacks to your three squares and eating smaller portions when you sit down to dinner can help you to cut calories without feeling deprived.

Five a day keeps the pounds away.
Trash the junk food and buy lots of fruits and vegetables! Five or more servings of fruits and veggies aren't just a good idea to help you lose weight - they'll help keep your heart and the rest of your body healthy. Other suggestions for eating well: exchange white bread for whole-wheat; drink lots of water and make sure you eat a healthy breakfast. Don't skip breakfast. (Having low fat cereal and milk and a piece of fruit is a much better idea than inhaling a donut as you run to the bus stop or eating no breakfast at all!) A registered dietitian can give you lots of other snack and menu ideas.

Avoid fad or prepackaged diets.
If we were meant to eat from cans, they'd grow on trees. It's never a good idea to trade meals for shakes or to give up a food group in the hope that you'll lose weight - we all need a variety of foods to stay healthy. Teens, in particular, should stay away from fad diets because they're still growing and need to make sure they get proper nutrients. Avoid diet pills (even the over-the-counter or herbal variety) unless your doctor prescribes them! These can be very addictive!

Don't banish certain foods.
Don't tell yourself you'll "never" again eat your absolutely favorite peanut butter chocolate ice cream or a bag of chips from the vending machine at school. Making these foods forbidden is sure to make you want them even more. Besides, you need to have some fat in your diet to stay healthy, so giving up all fatty foods all the time isn't a good idea anyway. The key to long-term success is making healthy choices most of the time. If you want a piece of cake at a party, go for it! But munch on the carrots rather than the chips to balance it out later in the evening.

Forgive yourself. So you were going to have one cracker with spray cheese on it and the next thing you know the can's pumping air and the box is empty? Drink some water, brush your teeth, and move on. Everyone who's ever tried to lose weight has found it challenging. When you slip up, the best idea is to get right back on track and don't look back. Avoid telling yourself that you'll get back on track tomorrow or next week or after New Year's. Start now.

Busy as a bee

I'm sorry for not blogging here yesterday. I was just sooo busy in my employer's place. No rest at all yesterday. I was just working the whole day. I polished the silverwares yesterday and there's a closet full of them, so it was really hardwork. It took me 2 hours to clean them all. I also mopped the wooden floor yesterday with a special soap. And today I cleaned the glass windows, inside and outside. Glad and I'm done coz it's really freezing. I also cleaned the huge candle holders with water. There were melted candles sticking on the sides, so I got difficulty on how to remove them. I tried looking at the festool
of my male employer and see if there's a tool I can use in scrapping the melted candles. But I found none, so I used a table knife to scrape them, but I didn't scrape it real hard coz I'm scared that it will be broken. I can remove them with hot water, but I just can't lift the 2 candle holders to the sink coz they're very heavy and very tall, up to my waist.

I also prepared dinner and I made pasta for tonight. Glad and the kids loved it and there's no left over at all.:) The scale is still at 53 kg. Good news for me,:)

Back from the weekend

Hi everyone! Glad to finally blog here once again. I had a very tiring weekend coz I served in a party last Friday from 4pm to 4am. Slept for 4 hours and went to another work again for 4 hours. Hayyy, I got back and hip pain from it. But I'm still happy coz my brother arrived in Denmark safely on Sunday, thanks GOD.

Today was also a very busy day for me. Got no chance to go down here in my apartment and relax for a while. I cleaned a lot in my employer's place. Glad and I was able to control my eating during the weekend and as a fact, the scale still stops at 53 kg, upon my weight check this morning. Hurrah!!

The scale wasn't kidding at all!

As I've posted yesterday, I was wondering if the scale was kidding when I weighed myself yesterday and the result says 53 kg. I thought the scale was not malfunctioning. And so I checked my weight once again this morning to make sure about it. And I weighed just like yesterday. Hurrah, so it means that I'm already 53 kg now. I'm really hoping to get into my goal of weighing 50 kg one of these days. More exercise and dieting to go.:)

I'm about to sleep right now, just waiting for the boiled water for my tea. And after drinking, off to bed already. But meanwhile, I'll check assisted living software because it pop ups in the window. So let's see if it's something important or useful. Have a nice evening everyone!

Best hairdos for different face shapes

As promised last night, I'm going to share to you some of the beauty tips I found while surfing yesterday while babysitting. Here's a tip of the best hairdo that will compliment the shape of your face. I got this from Free Beauty Tips. You can also visit the site to find more beauty tips there. Here's the best hairdos for different face shapes:

An oval face. The oval face is the perfect face. Almost any hairstyle will go with it, whether it is long or short, straight or curly. If you have an oval face, you will do well with having layers near your chin or cheekbones to draw attention to them. However, try to avoid hairstyles that add volumes to the top of your head – it will make your face look longer.

A long face. If you have a long or oblong face, you should create the illusion of width to balance it out. You can add width to your face by doing your hair with long, side-swept bangs or chin-length bobs. You will also do well with curls and waves that frame the face.

If you have a long or oblong face, you should avoid letting your hair grow extremely long or having your hair cut extremely short. Such extreme hairstyles will take the width from your face and emphasize its length.

A round face. If people with long faces need to add width to their faces, people with round faces need to take some of the width and bulk off by adding length. If your face is round you need to create the illusion of length, and to do this, you can have your hair cut just below your chin, or in graduated layers. Do not do your hair in short, one-length, blunt cuts, as it will only draw attention to the roundness of your face.

A square face. Having a square face means having an angular jaw. The hairstyle trick with having a square face is drawing attention away from that jaw. This is done by putting texture to your hair. Short curls do exactly this, as well as long layers that start just below the jawline. If your face has a square shape, you should try not to have your hair cut in one-length bobs or wear bangs that are cut bluntly. It will only emphasize the squareness of your face.

A heart-shaped face. Heart-shaped faces are pretty Valentines, but the pointed chin draws attention away from the eyes. If you have a heart-shaped face, you could bring focus to your eyes by wearing side-swept bangs, a fringe on your brow or long layers at the top. Or you could let your hair grow and have it done with layers that touch your cheekbones.

Hope the tips will help us all in enhancing our beauty with the help of our crowning glory, our hair.

Surfing for beauty tips

I'm blogging right here in my employer's place because I'm looking after the kids. The couple is attending a Christmas party, I just hope they'll come a little bit early today. They have to drive the kids very tomorrow (7am) for an activity in the school. And I'm not blogging for health stuffs today, instead I'm surfing for beauty tips,:) I'm really in the mood of enhancing my beauty, hehehe and besides beauty is also part of our over-all health and fitness, right? I'll blog about the beauty tips I found later. And as I stumble into a particular beauty site, I saw an advertisement on the side bar that caught my attention, it's an ad about diamond rings and I associate it with engagement rings and eventually what came into my mind upon seeing the pictures is wedding.:) Situations are really teasing me coz I've been thinking about married life for months now because most of my friends are already married or about to get married. And most of my friendster friends are already displaying photos of their cute babies. It makes me envy them, hehehe. And just a while ago, the thought of marriage just struck my mind once again. Ohhh life,:)

Is the scale kidding me?

Yepp, that's the question that my mind has been asking since this morning. My female employer has a weighing scale in the bathroom and it's already one of my daily routines to check my weight. When I was still in Denmark, I weighed 56 kg. And when I already came here in Norway, I lost about 1 kg. But about 3 months ago, I became 55 kg and just 2 weeks ago, my weight was already 54 kg. Hmmm, maybe that was the effect of exercing and dieting. But then this morning, I weighed myself and it was an unbelievable 53 kg. Ohhh ohhh, is the scale kidding me?is it not functioning well? I just can't believe it coz my "bilbil" is still big, hehehe and it really made me go back to the scale every now and then, hehehe. And just this evening, I weighed myself again and it's still 53 kg. Hmmm, I hope I'm really making progress. Let's see tomorrow if my weight will be the same. What's your bet? :)

I'm just done exercising

Yeheyyy!!I'm feeling good right now and I'm glad that I was able to realize my promise yesterday..that I'll do some exercises today since I havn't done any yesterday. I was jogging and dancing here in my apartment with Gwen Stefani and Nelly Furtado's music (as usual)for about an hour. I sweat a lot and it really feels so good. I didn't walk the child to school this morning because she has to go to the doctor with her mother.

I made chicken afritada for dinner and glad that the children didn't complain because usually, they'll complain everytime I'll cook chicken. As usual, my female employer likes it since I put a lot of vegetables in it, so it's healthy,:). My female employer shared to me her disappointment in her work place while eating. First, she was not able to drive the child to school after the doctor's appointment coz she's already late. So, the child stayed at her office the whole day. She was also disappointed because there was an unexpected board meeting and she has to attend it. Though she thinks that it's unnecessary for her to attend, so she asked for excemption, but then, she really has to because the meeting was all about business performance management. Good thing and she was not in bad mood during dinner.

How much do I weigh?

Here's a fun thing from Blogthings. Find out your weight too and have fun.

You Should Weigh 136

If you weigh less than this, you either have a fast metabolism or are about to gain weight.
If you weigh more than this, you may be losing a few pounds soon!

Ohhh ohhh, the result is very alarming! It says that I weigh 136 and if I weigh less today, I should be gaining few pounds soon or my metabolism is fast. I'm just 119 now and it's so scary if I'll be gaining weight soon, hehehe.

My BMI and Smorty

As I surfed the net for health tips and other health-related articles, I stumble upon a site where I can calculate my BMI or Body Mass Index. Mine is 22 and 18-25 is just normal. Thanks GOD. And If I'll lose some weight, I'll still belong to the normal range, so it's perfectly okey.

And I just want to share my happiness because this blog is already appproved to blog with Smorty. To those who havn't heard about Smorty yet, it's a paid blogging site where bloggers get paid to blog through blog advertising. No exercise today

It's kinda bad news for me. No exrcise for today coz I didn't walk the eldest chld to school coz she felt lazy and wanted to drive with her parents to school. I cleaned the house though, so I consumed enery in doing it. I ate tomatoes and carrots for lunch (as usual). And tonight, I don't feel like dancing and jogging, I just wanna sit and blog.huhuhu. I promise to do more activities tomorrow. I'll keep you posted then.

Healthy weekend update

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend, just like mine. I have a good news to tell, I didn't pig out during the weekend, hurrah!! I just ate enough amount of food and did some stretching. It also helps that my bestfriend is also trying to lose weight because she has really gained a lot of weight. So she's also very conscious with her food intake.

The cable system in Ate Brenda's neighborhood is not yet fixed. But we still manage to have some fun because there were good movies in the local chanels and I had fun watching cartoons with Ate Bren's daughter. We also talked about Ate Bren's vacation to Pinas this January with her hubby and her daughter. She wants to spend the Christmas in Pinas but the ticket is very expensive, so she decided to go on January instead to save more because she's planning to get a term life insurance for her parents as a gift on their 50th Wedding Anniversary on January.

Happy Sunday everyone and have a great and healthy week ahead!

Some dieting rules from coolnurse.com

Here are some dieting rules I found from www.coolnurse.com as I surfed the net:

1. Don't eat a large meal in the evening when you'll have little opportunity for exercise afterwards. It's best to eat more at the times when you are going to be the most active. Eat a hearty breakfast, a substantial lunch, and a light dinner.

2. Never skip breakfast!

3. Eat slowly and thoroughly chew your food.

4. Don't eat while you're doing anything else like watching TV, using the computer or doing your homework.

5. Stop frying food.

6. If you must snack, stock the fridge with low calorie snacks like raw vegetables and low fat yogurt.

A healthy weekend wish

I'm about to sleep now and hope that I can sleep longer before I go to Ate Brenda's place to spend my weekend there. And I just hope that I can still hold on to my dieting there because usually during the weekends, I used to pig out when I'm with my friends. I don't want my efforts to be ruined just because of weekends. I have to value my hardwork and stick to eating healthy foods and just enough amount to keep me going for the day.

I just hope that the cables in their neighborhood is already fixed, so we can have some entertainment and so I can divert my attention to the TV shows or movies instead of the foods. Last weekend, the cable was down so we don't have much channels to choose from.

Have a nice day everyone, I'm going to bed now.

Tips in losing 10 pounds by New Year's

I'm just done with my babysitting. My employers came home at 1:30am, but I'm still awake coz I watched some Pinoy shows on the net. And now I'm done watching, so I surfed for health tips once more before finally going to bed. Here the tips I found at Yahoo Health on how to lose up to 10 pounds by New Year's:

1. Toss whole milk and use only skim milk
Swap at least one daily cup of whole milk for skim milk (collectively from coffee, cereal, etc). At the end of five weeks, you'll save 2,450 calories and drop 3/4 pound. Here's why: one cup whole milk = 150 calories, one cup skim milk = 80 calories. Thus, 150-80 = 70 daily calories saved, 490 calories saved per week, and 2,450 calories saved at the end of five weeks.

2. Make all your sandwiches open-faced
For the next five weeks, omit the top slice of bread and you'll save 80 calories per sandwich (stick with regular size bread for sandwiches - skip rolls and bagels). If you're currently eating one daily sandwich, you'll save 2,800 calories and lose about ¾ pound. Here's why: one slice of bread averages 80 calories.

Lose one slice per day for five weeks, and you'll save 2,800 calories (35 slices total). Since it takes a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose one pound, 2,800/3,500 = 0.8 (about ¾ pound lost!).

3. Eat more slowly
Research shows you eat approximately 60 fewer calories per meal when you slow down your pace. Thus, slow down the pace for all three meals, and you'll save 180 daily calories - that's a whopping 6,300 at the end of five weeks (the same amount of calories in 24 McDonald hamburgers or 105 Duncan Munchkins or 30 slices of thin crust Pizza Hut Pizza). Best of all, those 6,300 saved calories can translate into a two pound loss!

4. Lose the liquid calories
Trim 250 liquid calories off each day - at the end of five weeks you'll save 8,750 calories, prevent 574 sugar cubes from entering your body, and knock off 2.5 pounds! Here's a quick beverage guide; 20-ounce bottle soda = 250 calories, 20-ounce Vitamin Water or Life Water = 125 calories, 8 ounces fruit juice - 110 calories.

5. Omit the salad dressing
Completely omit salad dressing and instead douse your veggies with plain balsamic/red vinegar or fresh lemon (when you're home, take advantage of low-calorie varieties. Looks for brands that provide no more than 50 calories per 2 tablespoons). Since an average salad contains five tablespoons salad dressing, and each tablespoon provides about 80 calories, you'll save 400 calories per salad. For those who eat a daily salad, at the end of five weeks you'll trim 14,000 calories and knock off four pounds of fat!

I hope that these tips will help us all in losing some pounds by New Year's everyone!

Having a tea break

Hi everyone, I'm done with my general cleaning in my employer's place and here I am taking some rest before I'll go back to work at 3 pm to prepare dinner. I'm just done eating tomatoes and carrots with salt and vinegar for lunch a while ago. I'm really trying my best in controllong my appetite and eating healthy foods. And it's working so far. And right now, I'm here blogging while having a cup of tea. It's still very hot, so I have to let it cool down for few minutes.:)

Before I cam here in my apartment, I checked the mail box of my employer and see if there's a letter for me because I'm waiting for a mail from the bank, but it's still empty. The postman is not yet done with his duty in delivering all the letters to the respective mail boxes. Hope he'll be finished soon, so I can have some flyers to read while preparing dinner.

Walking tips for a slimmer you

As usual, I am surfing for healthy tips and here's what I found from Slim-Fast about walking:

Start walking
You’d be surprised at how many calories you can burn just by walking. It’s an effective way to lose the weight and get into shape. You’ll reach your goal faster when you look for ways to incorporate walking into your daily routine.

Begin
Walk wherever you can. Try walking up the stairs instead of taking the escalator, walk over and talk to a coworker instead of emailing them, park farther away from the mall so you have to walk to get there.

Your schedule
Aim for a daily walk of 30 minutes to one hour. If your schedule does not permit that much free time, it is okay to accumulate "mini" walks during the day. For example, a 30-minute walk at lunchtime, a 15-minute walk before dinner and a 15-minute walk in the evening combine toward a one-hour daily goal.

Advance your walking program
Head for the hills. Combine hill walking with your regular flat-terrain walking as a form of interval training. Try leaning forward slightly when walking uphill, as this will be easier on your leg muscles.

Add intensity
Try using ankle weights or hand weights to increase the intensity. Make sure you swing your arms and take long strides. You'll burn more calories and get an upper-body workout as well.

Tip: Count your steps with a pedometer and challenge yourself to take more steps each day!

Surfing health stuffs and chatting

I'm just done cleaning my employer's place and I'm here in my apartment to have some rest before going back to work at 3pm. I'm going to prepare dinner and I'll make friend rice for tonight. The kids really love fried rice, as well as the parents.

I'm going to take a nap in a few minutes. I also made some surfing in the net about health stuffs, as I usually do. And this time, I searched for articles about balanced diet. And based on the articles I read, I'm not really having a balanced diet,:(. I really have to work on this and try to have a balanced diet. And at the same time, I'm also chatting with my cousin in the Philippines. She's in Samar right now and also busy surfing the net because she wants to upgrade the IBM memory of her lappy to accomodate more files. I just hope she can find the right establishment for the memory upgrade.
